Building Community. Opening Doors. Creating Possibilities.

A world that needs more love, more prayer, and more humanity. 🤎

The world may teach you to be guarded, but don't let it convince you to become someone you're not. Protect your peace, trust your discernment, and keep your heart open to goodness. Being kind doesn't mean being naive; it means choosing who you are, even when the world gives you reasons to be otherwise.

Lately, I've been reflecting on how easy it is to become hardened by the world we live in. The constant chaos, the division, the judgment, the hidden agendas, the lack of empathy, and the way we sometimes treat people as though they are anything less than human. It can make you question people's intentions, second-guess your kindness, and wonder whether being a good person is even worth it anymore.

But I believe it is. I believe we need more prayer, not less. More compassion, not condemnation. More understanding, not assumptions. More love, not another reason to divide ourselves.

Prayer has a way of bringing us back to ourselves. It reminds us to pause before we react, to seek understanding before we judge, and to ask God to work on the parts of us that the world is constantly trying to harden. Sometimes, the prayer isn't even for someone else to change. Sometimes, it's for God to keep us grounded, to sharpen our discernment, soften our hearts, and help us respond with wisdom instead of bitterness.

And in a world that can feel so disconnected, I believe we have to be intentional about building community. Real community. The kind where people feel seen, acknowledged, valued, and safe enough to be human. The kind where we can disagree without dehumanizing one another, hold each other accountable without stripping away dignity, and extend grace without abandoning our boundaries.

We have to get back to acknowledging one another. To recognizing that behind every face is a story we may never know, a battle we may never see, and a life just as complex as our own.

This is part of why the hate and anti-Haitian rhetoric we've seen, including the hostility that can surface within Black American and other communities of color, weighs on me. How do we ask the world to see our humanity while failing to extend that same humanity to one another? We cannot demand solidarity when it is convenient and withhold it when someone else's culture, nationality, or circumstances make us uncomfortable. We can have difficult conversations, acknowledge differences, and hold people accountable without reducing an entire community to stereotypes or treating our neighbors as less deserving of dignity.

Our struggles may look different, our histories may differ, and our experiences may not always align, but that should give us more reason to learn from one another, not more reasons to tear one another down. We don't have to share the same story to care about how someone else's story unfolds.

And to my sisters: we need each other. Life is hard enough without having to navigate it feeling like we have to do everything alone. Sisterhood matters. Friendship matters. The people who check on you, pray for you, celebrate you, tell you the truth, sit with you in the difficult seasons, and remind you who you are when life gets heavy matter.

Family isn't always limited to who we are related to by blood. Sometimes, family is who we choose, who chooses us, who shows up, who makes room for us, and who loves us through the different versions of ourselves. Create that family. Nurture those friendships. Build those circles. Be the person who makes room at the table. We all need somewhere we can exhale and remember that we don't have to carry everything alone.

And as I reflect on all of this, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

I'm grateful for my daughter, who gives me a deeper understanding of love and reminds me every day of the kind of world I want to help create. I'm grateful for my friends and family, for the people who have held me up, encouraged me, prayed for me, and reminded me that I am supported even when life feels overwhelming. And I'm grateful for my SHE IS MADE community, for every person who has connected with this vision, shared space with me, trusted me with a piece of their story, or reminded me why creating spaces for healing, creativity, connection, and belonging matters so much.

You all remind me that there is still so much good in this world. That genuine connection still exists. That we can build something meaningful together. That even in seasons when life feels uncertain, we can find strength in one another.

I don't want the chaos of this world to rob me of my ability to love. I don't want disappointment to make me cynical, betrayal to make me cruel, or other people's intentions to dictate the person I choose to be. I want to move with wisdom, pray for discernment, protect my peace, and remain open to the goodness that still exists in people.

I want to keep acknowledging people. Keep choosing kindness. Keep building community. Keep making room for honest conversations, sisterhood, healing, and growth. I want to remember that we can be both discerning and compassionate, both strong and soft, both protective of ourselves and loving toward others.

Because at the end of the day, we are all human. We are all navigating something. We are all in need of grace at some point in our lives.

May we be more intentional about the way we see one another. Less judgment, more love. Less division, more understanding. Less assuming, more asking. Less tearing down, more lifting up.

And may we never become so consumed by the darkness around us that we forget the light we are capable of bringing into someone else's life.

That's the kind of woman I want to be. That's the kind of community I want to build. And that's the kind of legacy I hope to leave behind. 🤎

With love, prayer, and gratitude.

Connecting the Dots

And this is part of why creating intentional spaces for connection matters so much to me. We spend so much time navigating the demands of life, trying to hold ourselves together, and figuring things out on our own that sometimes we forget how much we need one another.

We need spaces where we can pause, reflect, learn, reconnect with ourselves, and be reminded that we are not alone. Spaces where we can have meaningful conversations, challenge our perspectives, grow together, and leave feeling a little more grounded and a little less alone. **This is the heart behind my upcoming seminar.** Through SHE IS MADE, I want to create more than an event; I want to create an opportunity for us to come together with intention, make room for honest conversations, and explore what it looks like to show up for ourselves and one another in a world that can sometimes make connection feel difficult.

This First-Time Homebuyer Seminar is an educational community event designed to help individuals and families better understand the path to homeownership.

The seminar will bring together real estate and homeownership professionals to provide valuable information, resources, and guidance for those considering purchasing their first home.

The goal is to help attendees understand the homebuying process, explore available resources and programs, and learn what steps they may need to take to prepare for homeownership.

This event is designed for individuals at different stages of their journey—whether they are currently renting, living with family, saving for a future purchase, or simply wondering whether homeownership may be an option for them.n.

Made to Write

Made to Write, a space to simply be. To write, create, talk, laugh, eat, drink, connect, and tell our stories in whatever way felt right. Thank you to everyone who came and trusted the room with pieces of your heart. And a special shoutout to the Black men who allowed themselves to be vulnerable that night. Who spoke openly, shared honestly, and reminded us how important it is to also create spaces where Black men can express themselves without judgment or expectation. There was healing in the conversations, joy in the laughter, and community in simply being together. No pressure. No pretending. Just real people, real stories, and a safe space to create. Thank you for making Made to Write what it was. Until the next one…

XOXO,

Leonora M.
